Employee of the Week: 11/8/2020 – Frank H.

Frank H. is one of our top gun salesmen and he will talk about our process of purchasing a firearm at our Roseville and Van Dyke locations.

Q. What is one of the first questions you ask your potential firearm purchasers?

A. One of the first things I ask them is, “what is the intended purpose of your future firearm?” Knowing different calibers, sizes, manufacturers, and styles is important for your potential purchase. Also, knowing if the firearm is for conceal carry or home defense is an important step in your firearm purchase.

Q. Now your customer knows what firearm is a best fit for him/her. What’s next?

A. The next step would be filling out the ATF background check form (4472). You can’t have any felonies or domestic violence cases. You must have a valid driver’s license or state identification. If you are purchasing said firearm from us, your driver’s license or state id must be a Michigan Id. Your address on your id must be your current address.

Q. Okay, your customer passed his/her background check and is about to take their firearm home, what would you tell them before they leave?

A. I would tell them how important it is to have a quality gun safe or lockbox. You don’t want kids or unauthorized people getting ahold of your firearm. I would also tell them to make sure they practice as much as possible with their new firearm purchase. There are lots of climate-controlled indoor ranges to take their firearms and get familiar with their new purchase. It’s very important to know how to use your firearm in case you ever have to use it.

Q. Is there anything else you can think of to tell your future firearm customers?

A. Yes. I do want people to know how important a gun purchase is, and to remember that when a person goes through the steps to buy a firearm, that firearm is for them only. Straw purchases are extremely illegal and are not allowed at Motor City Pawn Brokers.

I’m Frank and I’m your Motor City Spotlight Employee! Hope to see you soon.
